How To Wear A Vintage Beret.

Autumn is the perfect time to add a beret to your wardrobe and my 1940s style berets are perfect for any autumn/winter look, so here’s my little guide to wearing one.

Step 1: Let’s start with some inspiration. The beret has been around for a long time and places like Pinterest are full of great pics to help you see how you could wear one and what sort of outfit you might put together. Below are a few of my faves from the 1920s & 40s.

Step 2: Measure your head size. Grab a measuring tape and then measure the full circumference of your head (as shown below.) Write your measurement down in inches and you are ready to choose the correct head size from my beret listings. More berets are coming in my Friday, September 29th (7pm) restock.

Step 3: Choose where you want your beret to sit on your head. Will you place it to one side and wear it forward on your hairline (pic A & B) or will you wear it more sat back (pic C & D)? To secure your beret in place you can use a hair grip either at the sides or at the back, great if it’s a bit windy out and you need to make it extra secure.

Step 4: Decide how to style your hair. Firstly a beret looks great worn with your hair un-styled. The first two pics are with my bobbed hair curled and with my hair in a low bun and my natural fringe. To give it an extra vintage twist (like the bottom two photos) I have created a plaited fringe, (find the tutorial here.) Alternatively, you can create a simple rolled fringe using the tutorial here
