Creepy Crafting: Making a Sam Labubu.

Happy 1st of October! And let's start the best month of the year off with another creepy craft and this time it's a Sam from Treat R Treat doll, or rather a Sam Labubu (really Lafufu).
I got this little guy in a local shop and it was the orange fur that really called to me. Once I got him home I decided I wanted to do a fun little makeover project with him and I've already used this little Sam charm to decorate many of my bags, as he came out so well!
For context Treat R Treat is an iconic 2000s horror film that is all about the traditions of Halloween, the character of Sam is the spirit of Halloween and you don't want to anger him!
Making The Outfit:
As always this project started with a look in the scarp pile for easy to sew pieces, this time was a little trickier as I needed very specific colours of orange, yellow and brown/beige but I did manage to find everything.
I made a some rough little orange fleece dungarees by just hand-stitching them and using the Labubu body as the base for the pattern. These didn't take too long at all and looked really cute.

Then I started on the little mask Sam wears, it's made of a sack in the film but I didn't have anything like that in my scraps so I used more fleece and just add shading and stitches to get that sort of effect.
I really enjoyed adding the texture and distressing the fabric and while it might not be very film accurate I think it gives the right feel.

Then it was time to decorate the dungarees with the stitches and patches and make some accessories.
If you have watched the film you'll know the significance of the broken candy lolly and I decided to add that in as a little prop as it's so iconic. This was made from scrap felt and I hand sewed the lollypop head and used my glue gun to create the stick. I decided to make it the same size as Sam to add some impact. I then sewed it to his wrist and he was finished!

Anyway, I hope you like this little spooky doll makeover and that you have some fun plans for this spookiest of months.
Remember you can find my own handmade range of bag charms here and "always check your candy!".
