Creepy Crafting: Midsommar Temple Keyring.

Happy Midsommar!
This post came about as I was watching, you guessed it Ari Aster’s masterpiece film ‘Midsommar’ on the longest day of the year in the middle of a heatwave! It’s no secret that I love folk horror, it’s definitely one of my fave film genres, and as I was feeling fidgety in the heat and needed something to take my mind off it I decided to make myself a little keyring of the iconic temple.
This project took roughly 40 mins and was done with upcycled things I had already. It was part machine sewn, part hand stitched.
Steps:
1. I had a few scrap bits of yellow fleece cut in ovals so I used 2 of these and drew the biggest triangle I could on them.
2. I then measured out the wooden slats and sewed them in lines on my machine.
3. I then sewed the triangle pieces together, leaving a little gap and turned it right side out. However I didn’t like the lines, it felt too much like a beehive and they looked too big for the rest of the scale.

4. I unpicked the sides and sewed extra lines to make the look I wanted. I then added the window and door to the icon temple. I hand stitched these on as it gave a neater finish.
5. I then added the doors on with some scrap lilac felt and added some flames. No spoilers here but if you know, you know ;)
6. Finally I re-did the flames bigger and added some either side of the doors before stitching on a keyring chain I had leftover from another project.

Final pics: This was such a fun little project and a great way of enjoying a film I love. I styled the keyring with my goat plush charm (available here) to show my love the folk horror genre.
Stay spooky.
