How To Care For Your True Vintage Hat/Headscarfđ
Caring for your true vintage pieces is important to prolong their life and make sure you get lots of use & fun out of them. It doesnât need to be a complicated process so read on for lots of easy and useful tips.Â
Fabric hats -
⢠Keep your hat in a clean, dry, space to help prevent any deteriorationÂ
â˘Â Keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent fadingÂ
⢠ Ideally keep it in a low humidity environment to prevent mouldÂ
⢠You can even help the hat keep itâs shape by using tissue paper as stuffing insideÂ
Straw hats -Â
⢠Hold your straw hats by the brim not crown to avoid damaging the shape
⢠You can remove any dust build up on the hat with a soft brush. Or try using a slightly dampened cloth for stubborn dust or dirt
Headscarves -
â˘Keep your headscarves out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.Â
⢠Store the scarves in a clean, dry space. Ideally not in a plastic box or bag as it can lock in moisture.
⢠To avoid wrinkles in headscarves when stored a draw you can roll them. If folding them just make sure to not put heavier fabrics on top of lighter ones.Â
â˘Using drawer dividers can help keep scarves undamaged.
Silk Scarves -Â
⢠Avoid wrinkles by hanging in a cool dry place.
⢠If ironing is needed set the iron to cool (or a silk setting) and you must remember to put a cloth between the silk scarf and the iron.
