Creepy Crafting: Making Witch Finger Jewellery.

I don't l know if it's just a UK thing or just a my childhood thing but these plastic witch fingers, especially the dark green ones, feel so nostalgic to me!

I bought a pack to decorate the photo set for my Classic Halloween mini collection, shop Halloween collection here, and as I like to make sure if I buy plastic things I do it intentionally I had plans to make some jewellery with the extras I had.

I took inspiration from some amazing Schiaparelli pieces of finger/hand shaped jewellery. Inspiration pics below.

I started off making a necklace and then got carried away and made a couple of hair clips too!

Making the necklace:

1. I started by heating a needle and used that to pierce through the plastic. If you try this please be VERY careful as the needle will get hot quickly and could burn you! Plus, make sure you have a window open for any fumes.

2. For the necklace I started off just trying to work out how it'd look and tried making the fingers hang from the finger tips first, however I didn’t love how it looked so I went back to the drawing board and tired using the other end.

3. It was super fiddly to thread the elastic through and in the end I ended up having to  widen the hole to be able to thread the elastic through.

4. I then threaded each finger onto the elastic and added some spacer beads (from a Halloween bead kit from Wilkos) between each one.

5. Then I added an assortment of beads on each side to tie in all the colours from my Halloween collection (orange, purple & green) and finish it all off. I also had to make sure the necklace size was big enough to be comfy to wear and then I tired the elastic ends in a knot and trimmed the excess.

6. The final necklace was really fun and very comfy to wear and probably only took an hour in total to make.

Making the hair clips:

1. I started by cutting the back off the fingers so they would lie flat.

2. I then glued in some felt with my glue gun and added some mini hair clips that fitted really well into the space.

3. I did one for each colour of witch finger to match the necklace. These were very quick to do but look very effective.

The final set came out even better than I hoped and I’m going to have so much fun wearing this!
